Save the date - the time for La Manzana Cyclery’s grand opening is approaching! Alongside the spring equinox, we can’t think of a better time to celebrate the launch of the shop. There’ll be a group ride at 4pm, and then some music, food, and general festivities from 5-7pm, all on Saturday, March 21st. We hope you’ll come!

Time has flown, and somehow opening week is here! Wondering what's been going on behind the scenes at La Manzana? So glad you asked 😉. We've had a few projects going on these last several weeks.. 1) Shop refresh It's been exciting giving the shop a little makeover! Between some fresh paint and new displays, we hope you feel the new energy in here like we do. 2) Getting learnt For the better part of three weeks in January, Max attended an intensive Professional Repair & Shop Operation course from the stellar folks over at United Bicycle Institute. Covering everything from measuring tools and component standards to wheel building and the various brake systems, this hands-on course gave Max the tools to jump into the shop as a bike mechanic. 🤓 This education, paired with the depth of knowledge from the three rad mechanics continuing (Scott, Ryan, and Jay) ensures timely and professional repair service. 3) Getting new items (or ordering them!) A number of new items should be in stock for opening day, including bikes, apparel, and accessories (as of this writing, this batch of items is en route to Paonia and will arrive soon!). We're thrilled to start bringing in some new bikes, a variety of biking apparel, and items to complement any cycling adventure, like handlebar bags, top tube bags, camp necessities, and some La Manzana Cyclery merch. 🍎 See you soon!

Okay, so who is La Manzana Cyclery, and what's our story (or a short version of it)? Behind the scenes, it's us - Max and Megan. We, along with our pups Olli and Penny, landed in the North Fork Valley about three years ago, in March of 2023, after owning and operating a small farm in Southwest Colorado for seven years. We love the diversity of ecosystems and landscapes in the Paonia area, as well as the foundation of local agriculture and community found here. We also love adventure - biking (duh), but also backcountry skiing, climbing, trail running, etc. and are thrilled to be a place to foster community around adventure and being outside more broadly. Max's love of bikes started as a kid, riding bikes with his dad, and learning how to fix them from him. Even while running a vegetable farm, Max and his dad would occasionally sneak away for big day rides in the San Juan Mountains. Megan's interest in bikes began as a simple commuter in college, and quickly deepened as we delved into the world of bikepacking. Fun fact - our honeymoon featured a week-long bikepacking trip in Oaxaca, Mexico. That’s all for now, more about the business coming up soon. Max and Megan here - we're so excited by the support received from y'all so far about the bike shop transition. Here with a few updates: 🚲 La Manzana Cyclery (our new name!) will be opening Wednesday, February 4th at 10am. Winter hours will be Wednesdays-Fridays from 10am-5:30pm and Saturdays from 10am-2pm. We are still dedicated to be Paonia’s full-service bike shop, supplying y'all with high-quality bicycle and e-bike repair services, custom bikes, and accessories. 🚲 We'll be transitioning the information on this facebook page over the next couple of weeks with our updated information, hours, etc. We're also building out our website (www.lamanzanacyclery.com). 🚲 What's the best way to stay in the know? Big things are happening! Max and Megan are the new owners of Paonia’s beloved bike shop. Thanks to everyone for supporting Scott and Teresa of @skbikespaonia over the last ten years.
